I’m thrilled to announce that Quirkyalone: A Manifesto for Uncompromising Romantics will be translated into Portuguese and will be released in Brazil in 2005. German and Danish translations are also on the way for next year. Never (when I was first writing about quirkyalone in my magazine To-Do List or talking about it with my friends) did I imagine this concept would travel so far and to so many different countries. We’re getting emails from people in Poland and South Africa as well as India and China, and the book is availasble in Canada, the U.K., and Australia. There is truly a worldwide demand for new ideas about being single (and maintaining one’s individuality in a long-term relationship), and it’s really exciting that quirkyalone is providing the vocabulary to get those conversations started. As my editor so wisely wrote me in an email, these translations give us some great ideas for where to hold next year’s Feb. 14 International Quirkyalone Day celebration.
