As per today’s San Francisco Chronicle, “It’s not that the Fourth Annual International Quirkyalone Day, or IQD IV, is the anti-Valentine’s event, exactly; it’s just the antidote to the feel-bad onslaught of canned expressions of love, from stale chocolates to forced flowers. It’s also a party to celebrate the paperback release of Sasha Cagen’s seminal work, Quirkyalone: A Manifesto for Uncompromising Romantics. Save the credit cards for a fancy event–this is a free-love affair.”

Here is a list of this year’s grassroots International Quirkyalone Day parties organized everywhere from Columbus to Copenhagen. The Copenhagen party is a release party for the Danish book.

People are still talking about last-minute parties on the online community–if you want to hook up with local folks who identify with quirkyalone in your own hood, check here. If you are planning something last-minute and want to spread the word, send info to us info at quirkyalone.net!

If there are no parties in your area, don’t despair. There are infinite ways to celebrate IQD. Take this February 14 to discover what you uniquely love to do, alone or with friends, and create a great day for yourself. One place to start: buy yourself a bunch of daisies. Daisies, being very natural and cheerful, are the official flower of the quirkyalone movement.

Cheers to all the fabulous grassroots organizers who are bringing IQD alive as an alternative celebration on February 14. You are true mavericks! Here’s the party list, and the hosts.
