Quirkyalone noun/adj. A person who enjoys being single (but is not opposed to being in a relationship) and generally prefers to be alone rather than dating for the sake of being in a couple. Also, a book, a movement, and an international holiday that happens to fall on February 14. Still confused? Read on.

This blog is written by Sasha Cagen, the creator of the quirkyalone concept. It's about everyday life, pop culture, relationships, and politics.

Come to the Movies with Me

    February 25, 2008

Wanna go to the movies next Friday night?

Be one of the first four commenters on this post and win a free ticket to see a new documentary FLYING: CONFESSIONS OF A FREE WOMAN.

“Filmed over five years, FLYING is an epic modern-day road movie that asks the questions: What do women really want? Why is sexual freedom so precarious? Does choice equal happiness, let alone freedom? What does it mean to be “free?” Using a new camera technique called “Passing the Camera,” filmmaker Jennifer Fox journeys to 17 countries and has countless conversations with women in search of answers to her questions.”

The New York Times described “Flying” as: “playful, sexy, tragic and contemplative” and an “addictive soap about sexuality and sisterhood…And if that makes the average man’s eyeballs roll, all the more reason for his honey to buy him a ticket!”

The details for the screening are:

Yerba Buena Center for the Arts
    701 Mission St. @ 3rd
    San Francisco, CA 94103-3138
    (415) 978-2787

We’re going on Friday, March 7th 7 PM (Part 2), an evening when the filmmaker Jennifer Fox will be present for a Q & A. She will also discuss her new art initiative for social change, “Passing the Camera.”

If you want to be my (group) date, leave a comment. First four commenters will get a ticket.

Cool, looks like I have my dates for the evening! The rest of you should still come and find us there. Perhaps we’ll wave a quirkyalone flag. . . or wear a quirkyalone trucker hat.
